ZINE CONTENT
Stormy Seas is a zine exploring the antagonists and villains of the world of One Piece. Content can be within or out of canon, but explicit shipping is not the overall intent of our zine (although flirty banter is always welcomed!). We’d like to explore the past, present, and futures of these devious villains and their lore. We’d love to see stuff within the canon One Piece universe, AUs, and more, although the focus is ultimately on these villains and the chaos they bring to the world. The possibilities are endless!

Characters with a higher demand will get more devoted space in the zine for writers and artists to explore, and will be divided up accordingly by the results of the Interest Check.

COMPENSATION & PROFIT
Our intention is to split any profits between all contributors based on how many pieces each contributor did.

Our pre-profit goal is to give each contributor a digital copy of the zine. If our sales goals are met, we would love to send each of our contributors a physical copy of the zine with shipping covered!

We'll also explore Ko-Fi fundraisers and other means to ensure all contributors have a copy of Stormy Seas in their hands once the project concludes, no matter where they are in the world!

RATING
This zine will be SFW (PG-13). Swearing, light innuendo, and in-canon violence are completely fine, but nothing explicitly NSFW will be explored within this zine.

Depending on interest, there may be a digital NSFW 18+ only portion of the zine available to purchase separately from the other bundles. Contributors can both contribute to the NSFW zine and the main zine, but work on the main zine will take priority over the NSFW one.

Q&A

Who can participate in the zine?
We’re aiming to have our moderators be 18+, but contributors and purchasers can be of all ages, save for the 18+ digital only portion!

What merch are you looking to release?
We’re going to have a physical zine, PDF zine, and a variety of different types of merch, depending on what the Interest Check’s results are! We’re also aiming to include some surprise stretch goals as well.

What villains will be featured in the zine?
We’ve released an interest check to gauge which baddies you all want to see most! Villains with a higher number of votes will receive more space within the zine for artists and writers to explore, and contributors will have the chance to give 4-5 characters they’d be willing to create content for. We simply want to create the content you want to see, so go ahead and get your votes in the interest check! We will post the results of the interest check in the Carrd once it’s over for full transparency.

How much will the zine cost?
We’re aiming to make this affordable for everyone! Bundles that include merch and stretch goals will be more expensive, as well as factoring in international shipping, but zine-only and PDF bundles (not eligible for stretch goals) will be available as well for a lower price.

Can I share my progress on my zine piece?
We’d like to keep the contents of the zine as much of a surprise as possible, so we are not allowing contributors to post sneak peeks, progress pictures, or stream their progress. Once sales of the zine have concluded and orders have shipped out, the artists may do as they please with their pieces.

How will Stormy Seas be sold?
We’re looking into Big Cartel and Shopify, as well as a few more international-friendly merchants. Most of the planning team is located in the United States, but we do understand that shipping costs may be high for our international friends on certain platforms, so we’re doing thorough research to ensure everyone who wants to can purchase!

What is a pinch hitter?
Pinch hitters are those who are asked to contribute to the zine in the event of an emergency. They will be asked to complete a piece from start to finish within a 1-2 week turnaround time, so please do not apply as a pinch hitter if this is not something you are able to do. You may apply as a regular contributor and as a pinch hitter, but may only be contacted in the need of an emergency if you are not accepted as a regular contributor.
